Claire Kinuthia is an influential medical practitioner who has blended her work as an obstetrician-gynaecologist with a powerful online presence, helping her reshape how young people can access health information.
Known for her clarity, empathy, and boldness, she has become a trusted voice at a time when misinformation is widespread and healthcare conversations are often inaccessible.
In 2025, Claire achieved one of her most notable milestones when she was appointed TikTok Mental Health Ambassador for Africa, a role that placed her at the centre of continental efforts to promote safe online spaces and tackle mental-health misinformation.
The year also marked her expansion into global health advocacy, with invitations to join regional mental health campaigns and contribute to youth-centred wellness initiatives across East Africa.
Her journey into public advocacy began when she recognised how stigma and inadequate information were harming women and young people seeking reproductive-health guidance.
To close this gap, she created the digital platform “They Call Me Daktari”, which quickly grew into a nationwide community known for accessible, accurate, and judgment-free health education.
Beyond her online influence, Claire continues to practise as a consultant obstetrician-gynaecologist, providing essential reproductive-health services and advising health institutions on improving maternal and sexual-health outcomes.
She is also a vocal advocate for menstrual equity, youth-friendly health services, contraception access and protection of vulnerable girls and women.
